Special Education Partner Group - Prescott Unified School District

A Little History
In November 2007, Kevin Kapp, District Superintendent of the Prescott Unified School District (PUSD) and DEAR met to discuss issues relating to the education of those with special needs in Prescott. It was decided that we would work together to hold a focus group, consisting of parents with children in the school system. It was also determined that we would need to go beyond just the discoveries of the issues presented by parents, and that we would gather input from teachers as well. Finally it was decided that with the information gathered by the two groups, DEAR and PUSD would jointly work toward an action plan that would in a practical way, improve the services provided to our families.

We have now held both the Parent and Teacher focus group meetings and the findings from these meetings are posted on this site. DEAR has also continued to meet with the parents of the original focus group and are inviting all other interested parents, teachers, and concerned citizens to participate in the “PUSD Special Education Improvement Initiative.”

Please join us in this initiative and help us make PUSD a model for special education.
Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to work together as a unified body to affect the necessary changes in the Prescott Unified School District in order to improve the educational experience within our schools for our children and for children in generations to come.”
